The Citarum River 2019 / 2024

There are 5 years between these pictures.

The first one was taken by Moritz and Karsten in 2019 when they visited the Citarum River in the south of Bandung for the first time. The second was taken last month by our local Project Manager Gandis. 

Thanks to the army's hard work in the area and our joint efforts to keep the river plastic-free, you can clearly see how the environment has changed.

It gives us hope that this can be achieved and extended if we continue to work closely with local communities and other organizations. 

Felix joins the Plastic Fischer Team and Karsten at Impact Festival in Frankfurt

We are pleased to announce that Felix Vieg has joined Plastic Fischer as Partnerships Manager! He has recently joined the team and will support us in our search for new sponsors and supporters. 

As one of his first actions, he accompanied Karsten to the Impact Festival, which takes place annually in Frankfurt 🇩🇪.

It felt a bit like a family reunion because you keep bumping into people you know but haven't seen for a long time. A great event with interesting companies, sessions and conversations (be sure to attend next year - see you there)!

Ethical Assembly and Ghostnet Collection with Sea Shepherd in 🇵🇹

Clean-up in Lisbon's harbor with Got Bag, Sea Shepherd & Plastic Fischer a.o.

Karsten took part in a panel discussion at the Ethical Assembly in Lisbon, returning to the city where we had our very first pitch (back then at the Greentech Challenge).

We met Chris (now Sea Shepherd) and Benny (Got Bag) 5 years ago and have kept in touch ever since. It was great to meet Chris again, both still loyal Got Bag supporters, and even take part in a clean-up in Lisbon's harbor and beaches where we collected hundreds of kilos of discarded fishing gear and prevented it from harming marine life.

We look forward to exploring further opportunities for collaboration!

Stopping even more ghost nets in India 🇮🇳

In Mangalore, we have already saved more than 5000 kilograms of fishing nets from harming the environment.

We came across fishermen dumping their partially broken nets on beaches and in the water and our local team approached them as they were picking up garbage nearby.

We convinced them to leave the material to us rather than endangering fish stocks and other natural habitats. Since then, much less fishing nets have been thrown away on the beaches of Mangalore!
